Premier League clubs rubbish suggestion of shorter games after Gordon Taylor comments

Top flight clubs have rubbished suggestions from Gordon Taylor that games could be shortened when the season resumes. Professional Footballers' Association chief executive Taylor claims matches could be reduced to less than 90 minutes - and that the idea was under consideration.

Top level football has been suspended since March 13 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and will not start again until the Government allows it to.

But it is understood the notion of completing games of around 30 minutes each half has not even been put forward to Premier League clubs.

Several senior executives at top flight clubs have expressed bemusement at the idea to cut the length of games and admitted they have no idea what Taylor is talking about.
