A Scots mum has told how she feared burning trees might fall on her and her five-year-old daughter as they walked into a wildfire.
Flames started on Fyrish Hill near the town of Alness in the Highlands on Friday afternoon.Melissa Sutherland, 33, and her five-year-old daughter Hali Ferguson, were out walking in the popular exercise route when they found themselves amidst the blaze.
Many have been using the walking route during the coronavirus lockdown. I was just walking up with my eldest daughter when we got to the bridge and the whole thing was on fire. She told the Record: “The trees had caught fire as well and the bridge was ruined.“At first we could just see the smoke and then the crackling.
