A zookeeper is being treated for serious injuries after she was mauled by a lion. The 35-year-old woman was attacked while working at Shoalhaven Zoo, in New South Wales, Australia.
Paramedics were called to the zoo at 10.30am local time, where they found the zookeeper with serious head and neck injuries.
It is understood that she had suffered bite wounds, 7 News reports. The woman was given a blood transfusion at the scene and is being airlifted to a hospital in Sydney for further treatment.
A spokesperson for Ambulance NSW said the zookeeper suffered serious face and neck injuries in the attack. The zoo had been closed to the public since March 25 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
