Covid testing centres in Portlaoise, Longford and Athlone are to close as the Health Service Executive consolidates its number of testing centres based on current demand.
People in counties Laois and Offaly area who need a Covid-19 test are being sent to the test centre in Tullamore, while the Mullingar centre remains open for patients in Longford and Westmeath.
It is understood that the test centre in Athlone, which opened in April, will be dismantled and removed by the end of the week.
At the height of the pandemic the, the HSE had three testing centres operating on a rotating basis in Longford and Westmeath, while two testing centes were rotated in Laois and Offaly.
