The documentary followed the rivalry between Baskin and fellow big-cat enthusiast Joseph Maldonado-Passage -- better known as Joe Exotic -- including the story of the mysterious disappearance of Baskin's previous husband, Don Lewis.

In "Tiger King," Lewis' family openly suspected Baskin of having something to do with the disappearance, possibly as a means of obtaining his massive fortune, leading many fans to take on similar beliefs.
