Perth and Kinross as cases continue to rise. The residents passed away from the virus last week with the region’s infection rate more than doubling over the past fortnight.
It means 269 people have now died in Perth and Kinross from the pathogen since the pandemic began last year. The increase coincides with a similar trend across Scotland, with the first minister admitting that coronavirus restrictions could be reimposed nationwide as a result.
The most recent data for Perth and Kinross, from Public Health Scotland, suggests an infection rate of 222.5 per 100,000 in the week ending August 22, up from 138.9 the week ending August 15 and 92.8 the week ending August 8.
