The UK is on track to have all adults vaccinated with both jabs by the end of August, it has been claimed. A senior government official is claimed to have said that giving both jabs to all adults by the summer isn't 'wildly overoptimistic.' More than 10 million Brits have already received their first Covid jab and the country is on its way to hitting the official target of 15 million initial vaccinations by mid-February.
It takes a few weeks to develop immunity to coronavirus after receiving the jab, according to Public Health England. Both the Pfizer and Oxford AstraZeneca jabs have to be administered twice to a patient before they are fully vaccinated, although one injection still provides significant immunity to serious illness.
