The United States is braced for a second wave of coronavirus after the nation's death toll rose by nearly 1,300 in a single day.
US deaths from Covid-19 rose by 1,292 on Tuesday, the biggest one-day increase since May, according to a Reuters tally. California and Florida reported record daily spikes on Tuesday, accounting for 362 deaths.
Elsewhere in the US, Arkansas, Montana, Oregon and Texas each reported record spikes in fatalities. Texas added more than 6,000 new cases on Monday, pushing its total to 401,477, according to a Reuters tally Only three other states - California, Florida and New York - have more than 400,000 total cases.
