VE Day: Dame Vera Lynn says 'I'll think of those boys when I sing We’ll Meet Again'

Dame Vera Lynn has performed her most iconic hit thousands of times in the past nine decades. She has sung it on radio, TV, and film, in the Royal Albert Hall and outside Buckingham Palace.

But just after 9pm on Friday, she will open the living room window of her home in Ditchling, East Sussex, and sing it again with a new passion.

And, as the strains of We’ll Meet Again ring out into the evening air, Dame Vera will be thinking of all those brave fighting men she met and performed for during our darkest hours.
