Route 7 from the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in A 19-year-old police officer was killed, and two other officers were injured in a high-speed crash Friday involving a burglary suspect.Jessica Ebbighausen was a part-time Rutland City officer since May and was scheduled for training in August to become a full-time officer.
Friday afternoon’s crash happened as police chased a vehicle driven by Tate Rheaume, a 20-year-old suspect in an attempted break-in at a house.
Evidence indicates that Rheaume crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Ebbighausen's cruiser, police said. The suspect's truck also hit another police cruiser.
