Hollywood superstar Matt Damon who has been a resident of Dalkey since early March and has decided to stay in Ireland to see out the Covid-19 pandemic.

He has said that he is grateful to the Irish people for protecting his privacy. The New York Times and the Late Late Show had been on the hunt for an exclusive interview with the Massachusetts born actor who originally travelled here to shoot a film.

He was spotted around town sporting a Supervalu shopping bag and had posed for pictures with residents prior to the introduction of the Covid-19 restrictions.

In an interview which was a scoop for Dublin Radio Station Spin 1038 Damon said he "laughed so hard" when he heard of the attempts by area residents to nip the press queries about him
