The Health Service Executive's lead on Vaccination and Test and Trace Damien McCallion has said 1.5 million people have now received a Covid-19 booster dose.
He added that over the past seven days 300,000 people have got a booster jab, which he described as a "very positive step". Asked about people being turned away from some vaccination centres over the weekend, Mr McCallion said the move to allow over 40s avail of booster doses early generated a surge in demand, but on balance was a good decision to get more people vaccinated.
