Tributes have been paid to a legendary TV presenter, who has died aged 78 following a long illness. Bob Cuddihy was a reporter and broadcaster on STV (Scottish Television) in the 1970s and 1980s and spent 17 years as a reporter and presenter on the channel.

He was a regular on news show Scotland Today and the political programme Ways and Means (1973-86). His 17-year stint with the channel – which is part of the ITV network – saw him interview a wide variety of figures in politics and business.

During his extensive career, he interviewed five British Prime Ministers, including friend Gordon Brown when he was making headlines in the 1970s, as well as US President Richard Nixon and former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

Although he found fame and settled in Scotland, Bob was born in New York, USA, in 1946 and arrived in the UK in 1962 following the tragic death of his parents.
