22 hospitals report fewer than ten cases of Covid-19

Latest figures show a significant easing of Covid-19 cases in hospital compared to the peak of around 2,200 cases during the surge earlier this year.

According to the Health Service Executive, there were 189 patients with the disease in hospital last night. It means that the number of hospital patients with Covid-19 has fallen below 200 for the first time since mid-December.

Twenty-two hospitals are reporting fewer than ten cases each of the disease. St Vincent's in Dublin, which was once one of the busiest with Covid-19, now has just four cases.

Also, the number of patients in intensive care with Covid-19 fell below 50 last night, and stands at 47. This is down from the peak of around 220.
