Twenty seven people were arrested all over the country in five days this month for failing to comply with gardaí policing the coronavirus pandemic.
The arrests were made between the 13 and 18 April and represent a four-fold increase on the previous five days. Garda Headquarters says there is still a high level of public compliance with the guidelines.
They say that they have interacted with hundreds of thousands of people in the ten day period between 8 April and 18 April 18 and a total of 34 people have been arrested.
Two of those arrests were under the Mental Health provisions of the emergency legislation and gardaí were acting on the directions of authorised officers.
