DELAWARE COUNY - It's been nearly 100 years since his execution, but the family of one Pennsylvania boy are still maintaining his innocence. Alexander McClay Williams was a 16-year-old student at Glen Mills School in Delaware County when he was accused of murdering 33-year-old Vida Robare.Robare, a "house matron" at the school, was stabbed 47 times with an ice pick in a case that made headlines across the country. Williams, who was doing chores unsupervised at the time of the murder, confessed to the crime three times without an attorney or parent present, according to reports.

In the view of rising number of COVID cases, the Chandigarh Administration issues a new advisory. As per the new advisory, people should continue wearing masks and avoid gathering until the cases subside.

(Photo by Robert Alexander/Getty Images) NEW YORK - A newly published study found that COVID-19 was the leading cause of duty-related deaths among law enforcement officers in the United States in 2020. According to the data obtained from the National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Fund database for the year 2020, COVID-19 deaths accounted for 62% of the 295 duty-related law enforcement officer deaths.The study, published in "Policing: An International Journal," also found that 82% of deaths were among Black members of law enforcement and 77% of deaths were among Latinx officers — far higher than the 48% of deaths among White police officers.The database contained deaths designated as those caused by incidents that occurred while in the line of duty.To compute the rate of death, researchers from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) also obtained data on the total number of law enforcement officers employed in the U.S.

NEW DELHI : India reported 5,233 covid cases in the last 24 hours, prompting doctors and scientists to renew their advice for people to wear masks and continue to follow covid-appropriate behaviour. The figure marked a jump of 1,500 over Tuesday’s 3,714 new cases. The total number of active caseload rose to over 28,800 across the country.

NEW DELHI: India reported 5,233 fresh covid infections in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of active cases to 28,857, according to the Union health ministry's updated data on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the country had reported 3,714 new cases. Active cases now make for 0.07% of total infections, while the national recovery rate was at 98.72%, the ministry said.

BENGALURU : As Karnataka's capital city Bengaluru is seeing a significant rise in Covid cases, the civic body in the city has made wearing of masks mandatory in public places and decided. According to the state health department, Bengaluru urban district reported 100 new infections in a 24-hour-period on 23 May, which has more than doubled to 291 on Sunday, the state health department said in its daily health bulletin.
