There have been 902 new cases of coronavirus recorded in Northern Ireland during past 24 hours. Tests were carried out on 5,836 individuals, meaning just over 1 in 6 of those being tested is positive.
Deaths are not recorded at weekends so the official Department of Health toll remains at 587. The 902 figure is 178 fewer than the record daily total recorded yesterday, but based on population size is equivalent to more than 2,300 cases in the Republic.
There are 134 confirmed Covid-19 patients in hospital, with 19 in intensive care units. Eleven of these patients are on ventilators.
The 7 day rate of infection per 100,000 of population in Northern Ireland is 291. The rate in the worst area - Derry and Strabane - is now 872.1.
