Adele’s headline performance at Glastonbury four years ago will go down in history as one of the best of all time – but the star was an emotional wreck before her barnstorming show.

The 32-year-old chart topping star had top billing on the Pyramid Stage at Glasto in 2016, taking to the stage on the Saturday night of the iconic festival.

Adele played on the stage for a 90 minute set and belted out 15 of her songs – and raised some eyebrows when she swore 33 times during her performance.

But the star was left in tears of fear ahead of her performance as nerves took over before she took to the stage. Jo Whiley has been reflecting on the emotional moment as she cast her mind back to interviewing Adele before her performance.
