Zara parent company Inditex reported that online sales rocketed by 95 percent in April, when most of its European stores were closed due to coronavirus lockdowns.
The company said it expected the shift to online sales to stick. By 2022, Inditex predicts that a quarter of its sales will derive from e-commerce; that’s up from 14 percent in 2019.The Office of National Statistics, meanwhile, reported that online sales of clothing, footwear and textiles represented 46.4 percent of sales for the sector in April, up from 26.6 percent in March.
