British hopes of a holiday in Spain this summer could be saved by 6,000 German tourists due to jet into the country this month.
The Spanish government has confirmed that a pilot test scheme to bring the tourists to the Balearic Islands has been given the green light.
The Germans will arrive from mid-June to test coronavirus protocols and if successful will enable Spain to open up its borders to foreign tourism from July.
The UK had been told by the Spanish government that its coronavirus infection rate needed to improve before Brits were allowed to visit.
