New Brunswick reported six new COVID-19 cases Friday, all in the Moncton region, but there are no hospitalizations and 69 per cent of the eligible population is now fully vaccinated. But it’s been a week of confusion for some as the province’s “green phase” protocols evolve.“The rules or the communication seems to be changing almost on a day-to-day basis. Next global pandemic could be 'hiding in melting ice', warns leading biologist
Daily Star's biggest headlines straight to your inbox!Rotting corpses and animal carcasses infected with lethal diseases could cause the next global pandemic, a leading scientist has warned.Fatal illnesses such as anthrax, tetanus, and smallpox can be preserved in Arctic ice sheets for thousands or even millions of years, microbiologist Anirban Mahapatra said.Historically this has posed little threat to humanity, but as ice sheets melt and glaciers recede at a rapid pace the diseases contained within can infect the living and cause widespread outbreaks. In fact, they already are.Five years ago a spate of anthrax cases in Siberia was traced to the 2,300 rotting reindeer carcasses contained in melting Arctic permafrost - or frozen soil.During

Doctors predict potential 4th wave of COVID-19 could hit Canada’s youth “I was really active before this, but now I don’t feel like doing anything. I just want to sleep,” Kayleigh McCue said.Illnesses related to COVID-19 have typically been less severe for children over the last year and a half, but while serious disease is rare, some children have become very sick.“We do still see some children, uncommonly, who do become severely unwell, sometimes during the acute illness but sometimes almost more commonly afterward when they develop this inflammatory syndrome called multi-system inflammatory of children (MIS-C) which can result in critical illness,” said Dr.
