Budget 2021: Rishi Sunak confirms Covid support schemes set to be extended

Rishi Sunak today confirmed coronavirus support for firms and workers is set to be extended in Wednesday's Budget. The Tory Chancellor indicated furlough and self-employment support will be extended from April 30 until June - by telling Sky News help will be "aligned" with Boris Johnson's roadmap.

The roadmap says England's legal lockdown restrictions will only end from June 21 at the earliest. While the Mirror has previously reported the furlough scheme and business support is due to be extended to June 30, the move has never been confirmed by the Chancellor.
