Bus Éireann is advising customers to only take necessary journeys. The company says capacity on buses and coaches is 50% because of physical distancing and some intending passengers have been unable to board.

It is asking customers to avoid peak time travel on Expressway routes where possible. It says that there are 8,000 seats available on its Expressway service, compared to 16,000 before the coronavirus pandemic.

Bus Éireann also says that 64% of licenced coach and one bus services are not operational which, it says, substantially reduces capacity on intercity routes from pre-Covid-19 levels.
