Carol Vorderman has donated her beloved helicopter to help NHS staff, amid the coronavirus pandemic. The UK Covid-19 death toll has risen to 3,605, with more than one million people infected with the condition around the world.

And the former Countdown star is hoping to do her part to aid those on the frontline, delivering them the PPE (personal protective equipment) they desperately need.

Taking to Twitter, the 59-year-old shared a series of photos with her chopper. Alongside the uploads, she wrote: ‘My Mildred and I (my aeroplane N242CV) have had some adventures BUT I want to tell you that right now she is being used by the amazing people at @BAESystemsAir to ferry PPE to where it’s needed by our #NHS around the country…. #GoMildred
