Coffee fans queued for hours outside drive-thru Costa branches – causing traffic chaos. The coffee shops are the first to re-open after Costa shut down all 27,000 UK stores on March 23 in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Drivers headed to Glasgow's drive-thru near Braehead Shopping Centre and pictures show lines of cars tailed back bumper-to-bumper, stretching to the main road near the M8 in Hillington, reports the Daily Record.

In the Edinburgh branch, drivers queued around the car-park as they waited to be served by baristas wearing gloves and masks.

Coffee fans headed to pick up at Edinburgh Sharpdale and Edinburgh South Bridge branches. The same was seen in Wakefield, at the branch, at Snowhill Retail Park.
