Child fighting for life after contracting coronavirus during lockdown

A child has been taken into intensive care as they fight for their life against coronavirus. The youngster is the third in Ireland in the five to 14 age bracket to have been admitted to an ICU with Covid-19.

It is not known if the child has an underlying health condition. The youngster is being treated in Ireland, but the child's gender, location and exact age have not yet been released.

Although three children under 14 in the Republic of Ireland have now been admitted to an ICU, there have been no deaths in these age profile.
