Organisations representing children with disabilities have expressed alarm at draft Department of Education proposals for a summer programme for school students with intellectual disabilities and conditions such as autism.
Intellectual disability organisation Inclusion Ireland and autism charity AsIAm say they are greatly concerned by information they were given at a Department of Education briefing this morning, and what they say appears to be a decision to curtail eligibility for the summer scheme, known as 'July provision' this year.
The two-week programme is designed to provide continuity of education for these children during the summer months, and can be school or home-based.
