Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod has confirmed that the ITV soap will tackle the coronavirus, though it will not dominate the show's storylines like it does viewers' real lives.
The executive producer explained that the topic had been discussed with Corrie crew and they decided there was no way they could not include aspects of the Covid-19 pandemic in the soap.
Speaking to press via video link this week, Iain said: "The bottom line is we talked a lot about this, as you can well imagine, about whether Coronation Street would have a coronavirus presence in it or if we would exist in a parallel universe, everything proceeding in a pre-pandemic fashion.
