Brits will not be forced to wear a mask while shopping, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps confirmed. Last night Mr Shapps announced that everyone travelling on public transport in England will be required to wear a face-covering from June 15.
He added that travellers could be fined or refused permission to board buses or trains if they refuse to comply with the order.
This morning he stressed that while people should wear them when they are shopping it would not be compulsory. But he warned that if you come across a shop, with non-essential retail due to reopen on June 15, that you think is too crowded you should "actually just avoid that shop".
