A permanent memorial to transport workers who died during the coronavirus crisis is being planned, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has said.
Mr Shapps said he was in talks to create “commemoration or memorial” - perhaps to be placed at Victoria Station, where Belly Mujinga worked.
Mum-of-one and Thames link rail ticket collector Mrs Mujinga from Hendon, North London, died from Covid-19 in April after reporting that a passenger spat at her at Victoria Station.
She died just three days after being admitted to an intensive care ward and put on a ventilator. Speaking to the Commons Transport Committee, Mr Shapps said: “It is sadly the case that to my knowledge 54 transport workers died with Covid, and I pay huge respect to each and every one
