Asked about whether the government had began to procure extra medical equipment when they saw the spread of COVID-19 in China and Asia, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the current situation shows the “entire world was unprepared” for the need for personal protective equipment (PPE).

He claimed some places were facing “far greater” shortages than Canada and they’ve been working to step up the procurement of PPEs but also stepping up Canadian production of materials..
