A patient displaying coronavirus symptoms had to be lifted from their flat by firefighters yesterday via an aerial ladder. All three emergency services were called to the scene in Shepherds Bush, west London, yesterday with the person carried through a second floor window.
Rescuers were all kitted out in masks with air filters, while paramedics wore hazmat suits - with everything removed when the job was done for decontamination.
Police shut off part of Uxbridge Road to allow for the rescue to be completed, with the London Ambulance Service having requested help from fire at 4.01pm.
