The government's new "Stay Alert" coronavirus message has been savagely mocked after an MP tried to defend it on The Andrew Marr Show on BBC News today.
Housing, Community and Local Government secretary Robert Jenrick's interview was described as "clear as mud" and "bungled" by baffled viewers who couldn't work out what the government's new slogan means as it ditches "Stay at Home".
In the clip, the Conservative MP says the UK is now “past the peak” of infections and explains that "Stay Alert" will mean "stay alert by staying at home as much as possible”.
Marr then asks why the government is changing the slogan if the rules appear to be staying the same, and notes that Nicola Sturgeon is keeping "Stay at Home" in Scotland.
