The government has quietly tweaked its new "Stay Alert" slogan following 'confusing' backlash. The new slogan was announced by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson when he revealed that the UK would be moving into the next phase of its coronavirus lockdown plan, replacing the original 'Stay Home' message.
But ministers have now admitted that the slogan required added explanation to help the public understand after it was said to be "too vague".
Additional advice has now started to appear, which instead says: "Keep our distance, wash our hands, think of others and play our part.
All together." Asked why the extra messaging was being introduced, Justice Secretary Robert Buckland said there is a need to explain the "different elements" involved.
