The latest operational figures from the Health Service Executive show that as of last night, there were just 42 people with confirmed Covid-19 being treated in intensive care units around the country.
This is a significant drop from the high of 160 patients in ICU in early April. Two thirds of these Covid-19 patients are being cared for in ICUs in Dublin hospitals.
The highest number, 7, are in St James's Hospital. While there are 6 patients each in Beaumont Hospital, Tallaght University Hospital, and the Mater Hospital.
These figures are correct as of 6.30pm yesterday evening. There are also a further 21 people, who are suspected of having Covid-19, being treated in ICU.
