Andhra Pradesh (AP) on Tuesday saw a jump in the number of coronavirus cases with 17 people testing positive for the disease, of which seven had travelled to New Delhi to attend Ijtema -- a religious gathering – at Alami Markaz Banglewali mosque in Nizamuddin, earlier this month.
A health department official from AP said that 711 from AP had gone to attend the religious gathering in New Delhi, of which many are in quarantine and 85 are yet to be quarantined.
The issue came into light on Monday night after six people from Hyderabad in Telangana, who attended the same religious gathering, succumbed to the deadly virus.
