Nurses have backed strike action in an escalating row with the Scottish Government.Close to 90 per cent of nursing staff who responded to an indicative ballot have backed industrial action.Around 58 per cent of that number have voted to strike. It comes as the country's NHS is put under increased strain with Covid cases rising again. There are currently 768 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 60 being treated in intensive care.Julie Lamberth, Chair of the RCN Scotland Board, said: “The thought of taking industrial action does not sit well with nursing staff.“So the response from members to our indicative ballot demonstrates how difficult things are within the NHS.“The Scottish government must act now to protect patient safety
