Early data show Moderna's COVID vaccine 94.5% effective

In more good news from the COVID-19 vaccine front, Moderna Inc. announced this morning that early data from a late-stage clinical trial indicate its vaccine candidate showed 94.5% efficacy against the coronavirus.The company said in a press release that the first interim analysis from the phase 3 COVE randomized controlled trial found a total of 95 COVID-19 cases, 90 of which were in the group that received placebo and 5 of which were in the group that received mRNA-1273, the messenger (m)RNA-based vaccine co-developed with investigators from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Vaccine Research Center.
