Elton John has launched a $1 million Coronavirus Emergency Fund for HIV sufferers. The iconic singer took to Twitter on Saturday (April 4) to make the announcement, stating that the Elton John AIDS Foundation is committed to protecting those with HIV during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Noting that distribution of HIV medicine, testing and treatment is not as simple as it was a few weeks ago, Elton explained that the new emergency fund will help frontline staff to prepare for and respond to the pandemic's effects on HIV care. “For almost 30 years my foundation has prioritized the most vulnerable people to HIV, to end the AIDS epidemic and we’re committed to this during the COVID-19 crisis too,” he said in a video.
