Fly-tipping rates in Rochdale have soared amid the coronavirus pandemic. The number of incidents recorded in the borough during March was more than double that during the same period last year.
These included the dumping of more than 60 boxes of frozen chicken across Birchinley Manor car park and Firgrove Playing Fields - two sites which are just one mile apart.
A large amount of rubbish - including a suitcase, garden furniture and a bed’s headboard - was also tipped at Dig Gate Lane, Milnrow, while what appear to be building supplies were found at Riverside Drive, in Smallbridge.
