NORTH PHILADELPHIA - A man in his 40s was critically injured after someone shot him in the stomach in North Philadelphia.Officials say police from the 26th District responded to the shooting at the intersection of North 7th Street and West Montgomery Avenue Friday night, just after 8:30.Police found the man, thought to be in his 40s, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his stomach.Police rushed him to Temple University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.Police are actively investigating the shooting, but gave no details regarding a suspect or a motive.___Tips can be submitted by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477) or texting PPD TIP (773847). (Credit: Summit County Sheriff's Office) Two Utah snowmobilers are lucky to be alive after becoming stranded Wednesday in an overnight storm in Utah.According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, search and rescue teams responded to the Bear River Station area of Mirror Lake Highway in Summit County regarding two adult males who were stranded on their snowmobiles. The agency’s public information officer Felicia Sotelo told FOX Television Stations that the men rode into a bowl-like depression on their snowmobiles and were unable to get out. "[They] essentially were stranded," Sotelo shared, noting that their tracked vehicles were low on fuel."They didn’t plan on being out all day," she continued. "They built a snow cave, they built a fire." The individuals utilized a SPOT location device, making it possible for the men to communicate with emergency officials, which assisted the rescue team in locating them. RELATED: Jeremy Renner reveals snowplow accident left him with '30 plus broken bones'"Obviously no one wants to spend the night unexpectedly in the snow," Sotelo said, adding, "But they did have at least some backcountry experience and knowledge to keep themselves sheltered during the storm overnight." Despite heavy snow overnight and very steep terrain, emergency officials were able to find the men in "good condition" after several hours. Jeremy Renner just revealed the full extent of his injuries from his snowplow accident, saying he shattered more than 30 bones in his body.

PHILADELPHIA - Court records show a local organization posted bail for one of two 14-year-olds accused of beating an elderly man to death with a traffic cone last summer in North Philadelphia. James Lambert, 73, was walking on the 2100 block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue on June 24 around 3 a.m.

PHILADELPHIA - A funeral is being held for Temple University Police Sergeant Chris Fitzgerald on Friday, marking nearly one week since he was fatally shot while chasing a suspect near campus last week. A viewing and service is being held at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and will be followed by an interment at the Forest Hills Cemetery in Huntingdon Valley. Investigators say Fitzgerald, 31, was on patrol alone on Saturday night around 7 p.m. on the 1700 block of Montgomery Avenue when he saw three young people dressed in dark clothes with masks.

VANCOUVER, Wash. - A Washington state man says he feels lucky to have his keys back after his struggle with a would-be carjacker was caught on video.Bill Black of Vancouver, Washington, was putting air in his tires at a gas station around midday and left his car running while he filled them. He told KPTV when he got to the back passenger side, he heard his driver’s side door close — then the car started backing up.Black’s adrenaline started pumping, and he quickly jumped in his car through the passenger side.He said it wasn’t only his car he was protecting: it was his livelihood, too. His work laptop and other items were in the vehicle."It's not just the person stealing a car.

COLOMBO (News 1st); A criminal wanted for multiple crimes was killed in police fire on Thursday (23) morning in Medawala, Katunayake.Police Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa told News 1st that officers opened fire when the suspect attempted to hurl a bomb at them.The deceased was identified as Dinesh Buddhika, a 30-year-old man from Heenatiyana.It was reported that police officers were searching for a firearm that was use to commit a crime, and it was at that moment that the deceased suspect had attempted to hurl a bomb at the officers.Sri Lanka Police said that the deceased suspect was wanted for homicides, extortion and other crimes.

COLOMBO (News 1st); An individual serving in the Sri Lanka Air Force was arrested by Police for stealing a weapon and ammunition from the Ratmalana Air Force Base armoury. A T-56 Assault Rifle and 120 rounds of ammunition and four ammunition holders were stolen by the 37-year-old suspect.Sri Lanka Police said the suspect will be produced to the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court on Thursday (23).

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a shooting near Temple’s campus that occurred just blocks from where a Temple University police officer was killed in the line of duty Saturday night.Officers responded to reports shooting near 19th Street and Montgomery Avenue, in North Philadelphia, around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.Police say a 17-year-old boy was shot four times in the leg and a 13-year-old girl was shot once in the right forearm. Both victims were rushed to Temple University Hospital.

CALN TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Chester County District Attorney's Office is investigating a shooting involving police in Caln Township. According to authorities, the incident began on Wednesday morning just before 2 a.m. when police received information about a stolen vehicle being found in the parking lot of a Wawa in Downingtown.  (Caln Township Police Department)Officials say the suspect, identified as 56-year-old Richard Luminello, of Houtzdale, Pennsylvania, who stole the vehicle, stole another car from the Wawa parking lot and fled from officers attempting to stop him from entering a nearby neighborhood. Police say a Caln Township officer was at the intersection of Westerham and Shelburne Road to put up stop strips when Luminello crashed into the officer's marked police car head on at a high rate of speed. SKYFOX flew over Caln Township, where a suspect was shot by police after crashing a stolen car into a police cruiser.  The stolen car hit the police cruiser so hard that it sent the cruiser backwards about 40 years, according to the District Attorney's Office. Authorities say the officer, who was behind the cruiser, had to dive out of the way to avoid being hit by the impact. As the stolen vehicle eventually came to a stop after the crash, Luminello got out of the car and began walking away from responding officers, per police. Officers shouted commands to Luminello as they approached him, officials say.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a home invasion in the Overbrook section of the city. According to police, the incident occurred Wednesday morning just after 6 a.m. on the 5600 block of Stewart Street. Authorities say two men entered the residence through a front window in the basement. Police say the homeowner, a 56-year-old man, was tied up before the suspects took his black 2012 Nissan Rogue. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAccording to officials, the homeowner had cuts on his hands and bruises on his face.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, N.J. - What began as an innocent act of kindness became one woman's fight for her life across the country in New Jersey's Burlington County.New Jersey State police say 57-year-old James Parillo met the victim in New Mexico last February when she agreed to drive him to Arizona.The suspect and victim then entered into a month-long relationship, which ended when he assaulted her in California."During their time together, the suspect allegedly took away the woman’s phone, confiscated and utilized her debit cards, and isolated her from her family," police said.The pair ended up renting a room at a house in New Gretna, New Jersey, where police say the woman was kidnapped, beaten and choked by the suspect.On February 7, the woman made her escape, running bare foot in 40-degree weather to a nearby gas station.MORE HEADLINES:A gas station attendant was sitting outside on break when she heard people screaming, and running around the corner."He was screaming you don't wanna do this, and then she got up to me, and she said I've been kidnapped, call 911," Jammie Garthaus said.The woman then ran inside and locked the deadbolt, an escape plan she told police she devised during a prior visit."She was saying that he choked her. She had like a red mark around her throat," Garthaus said.

PHILADELPHIA - Flashes of gunfire can be seen erupting in the dark on a North Philadelphia street, and police are looking for the suspect who pulled the trigger.Police say three young male suspects were disrupting traffic when they crossed the 4600 block of C Street over the weekend.One driver honked, prompting the suspects to yell obscenities, and one of them to fire his weapon, according to police.MORE HEADLINES:Three shots struck the driver's side of the car, hitting the driver in the left thigh.Video from the scene shows shots being fired as the vehicle drives off and the suspects flee.Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a shooting that left a man critically injured early Wednesday morning. According to authorities, a 26-year-old man was driving eastbound on Allegheny Avenue when a car next to him fired seven shots into the car. The man was shot in the abdomen twice and pulled into a nearby Sunoco gas station to turn around and drive in another direction, Chief Inspector Scott Small says. Officials say he was able to flag down police in the area of E Lippincott Street and Kensington Avenue. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESPolice say officers took the man to Temple University Hospital, where he is in critical condition. Investigators say they found seven spent shell casings in the area of Amber Street and E Allegheny Avenue. The shooting remains under investigation. 

Milton, Ont., over the weekend was protecting his mother from an intruder who broke into his home, his lawyer says.In a brief statement sent to Global News, Jag Virk said his 22-year-old client “is a registered firearm owner and used his gun legally against an armed intruder.”Halton Regional Police previously said that at around 5 a.m. on Sunday, a group of suspects approached a home on Gibson Crescent in Milton with the intent of committing a robbery.“Upon entering the residence, they were confronted by an occupant and a number of gunshots were fired within the home,” police said.

PHILADELPHIA - Shocking video captured the moment a store clerk was shot in the face after an argument escalated inside a Philadelphia grocery store over the weekend.Police say a woman pulled a gun on a security guard after she and a male suspect got into an argument with a store manager at the Save A Lot on Chew Avenue.The security guard quickly disarmed the woman, and escorted both suspects out of the store.MORE HEADLINES:However, both suspects were caught on camera rushing back to confront the manager, shooting him point-blank in the face, then fleeing.The store manage was left in critical condition.Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

One fairgoer told Storyful people were getting sick, and the staff stopped the ride."Oh my God.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting that left a man critically injured. According to authorities, the shooting occurred on the 700 block of E Hilton Street around 10:09 a.m.

Patrick Banks, James Angel and Nicole Sawyer were arrested and charged after allegedly kidnapping and torturing a victim in their basement. (Madison County Sheriff’s Office) Three suspects in North Carolina were arrested and charged on Monday in connection with an alleged kidnapping and abuse of a victim.Madison County Sheriff Buddy Harwood described the crime as a "horrific incident." He said an investigation was launched after a resident reported that an unidentified person showed up at their home saying they had been kidnapped. Deputies then responded to the area and discovered the victim with numerous lacerations to the face, body and arms.

PHILADELPHIA - An argument at a McDonald's led to an exchange of gunfire on the streets of one Philadelphia neighborhood, and now police are looking to identify two suspects.A man and woman arrived at a McDonald's on Hunting Park and Broad streets in a red pickup truck on February 15.At one point, a verbal dispute broke out and the duo drove off before a shootout ensued.MORE HEADLINES:Police say the woman traded gunfire with men on the 4200 block of Carlisle Street as the man continued driving.The suspected vehicle is described as being a red pickup truck with a missing front passenger side hubcap.
