A professor has warned of a spike in coronavirus cases if restrictions are lifted too early after a study showed a huge drop in infection rates.
Imperial College London's REACT study showed infections in England had plummeted by two thirds between January and February, with the R number standing at 0.72.
Tory MPs and business leaders are now calling for a relaxation of coronavirus restrictions, although experts fears this could cause cases to surge again.
Simon Clarke, associate professor in cellular microbiology at the University of Reading, said another shutdown is more likely if restrictions are eased too soon.
