FRIENDS creator Marta Kauffman has issued an apology for the lack of diversity in the US sitcom. In wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, the writer said she would have made "very different decisions" if she were to start from square one.
This means the original six-strong cast line-up of Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow, along with Matt Le Blanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer could have been very different if the show was beginning today.
Marta told the ATX TV Festival, held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic, of her change in view. She said: "I wish I knew then what I know today. "Sorry, I just wish I knew then what I know now.
