More than a quarter of Britons has been given the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine since the country's biggest immunisation programme began in December.
According to government figures published on Friday, 16,875,536 have been vaccinated - the equivalent of 25.3 per cent. The rollout is currently focused on over-65s and those aged between 16-64 with underlying health conditions.
It is expected that over 60s, 55s and 50s will be invited for their first dose within just a few weeks. And although Whitehall sources have branded it mere "speculation" there have been reports of over 40s potentially getting their jab in the next few weeks too.
