A number of amenities around Galway City are being closed this afternoon, following concerns about breaches of social distancing guidelines.
Many of the areas in question were subject to restrictions that were lifted last week, but increased traffic to coastal and riverside locations in recent days has led to a re-imposition of closures.
In the city centre, access to the Claddagh Basin and the Spanish Arch is being restricted. Gardaí spent a number of hours in the area last evening, monitoring large crowds that had gathered by the banks of the Corrib.
Car parks at Silverstrand and Ballyloughane beaches are closed and access to Blackrock Diving Tower in Salthill and a nearby coastal pathway has also been limited.
