A scientist has developed a "game-changer" Covid-19 test that could solve many of the current testing issues - by gargling with water rather than taking an uncomfortable swab.
The new test simply involves gargling with 10ml of tap water at home - with results available in just one hour after a lab receives the sample.
The new technique, developed by biomedical scientist Professor Ray Iles within a University of Cambridge Laboratory, could cost a lab as little as £2.43 per sample - and could be rolled out globally.
And the gargle test, which has already been shown to the UK government, is also capable of demonstrating whether the subject has Covid-19, influenza, or a common cold.
