But the ex-Manchester United defender’s declaration comes just days after he labelled it the league’s “best bet” in deciding matters.

That showcases just one of the key difficulties facing Premier League chiefs, as they continue to seek a way to finish the 2019-20 campaign.

The top-flight are still keen to finish the season on the pitch, with June 12 pencilled in as the starting point for ‘Project Restart’.
