Govt expected to agree €300m school reopening plan

The Government is expected to agree a €300m-plus plan to reopen schools by the end of August at its Cabinet meeting today. The plan is likely to include €75m for building works to help ensuring physical distancing in classrooms, millions of Personal Protective Equipment and hand hygiene equipment for schools and guidance on what to do if a Covid-19 case occurs.

All schools have been closed since 12 March due to the pandemic, with their reopening a top priority for the Government. Minister for Education Normal Foley will bring the plan to Cabinet this afternoon.
