The current season of Grey’s Anatomy was supposed to have 25 episodes, but only 21 episodes were completed before production shut down because of the health crisis.

Now, the episode that airs on April 9 will be the final episode of the season. Krista Vernoff, who is the showrunner for Grey’s, spoke out in a tweet on Friday (March 27) after the news was announced. “We are disappointed that we don’t get to complete our storytelling this season.

The good news? 1621 plays like a satisfying finale! It’s not where we planned to end, but it’s beautiful & the questions that linger we will answer next year,” Krista tweeted.
