Around half a million people will receive a text inviting them to get their jab through the national booking service. NHS bosses say more than two thirds of people aged 45 to 49 had been vaccinated so far.
More than 28 million people have received their first dose of the vaccine since the national roll out in December. People who fall into the new age category are being urged to take up the vaccine offer.
